It may be a two person job. You'll need to pull the spur out of the leg it's embedded in, and treat the wound with blue kote. Then you will either need to pull the spur off, or trim it. Pulling it off is a fairly easy thing to do. Just take a pair of pliers, grab hold of the spur, twist, and yank. If trimming, you will need to be very careful not to trim too much. If you do trim into the soft quick, the spur may never regrow.

Spurs are more like dog toenails.....if you cut them too short, they can bleed very badly.
That's why you need some kind of blood stop powder or cornstarch...and adult supervision if you are a minor.
