My 21 week old brahma is acting oddly. She won't eat the snack I just offered and is sitting in a slightly hunched position near her water. She won't do her usual antics and at first I thought maybe she was about to lay her very first egg because her rear seemed to be contracting some.
However, still no egg but just pooped this odd poop. Her crop feels squishy to me. I haven't seen her eat.

Read this so you can learn about crop disorders. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

Then withhold food and water after bedtime and don't let her have anything in the morning until you check her crop. If it's still full, decide if it's squishy like a water balloon or lumpy and hard or if it's perfectly empty. Then report back here.
I took her to the vet. They think it's likely a oviductal egg. They said unless a major improvement by morning, will likely need to euthanize tomorrow. :(

She's only 21 weeks. It's her first egg.

You can go bring her home and treat her with calcium citrate with vitamin D. It can't hurt, and it may help her get this egg out. You can buy it at Walmart, one tablet directly into her beak. Another tomorrow. There's nothing to lose by trying. She has the possibility of a long life if it works.

Have you dealt with this before?

I never expected to be losing one like this, so young. I was worried about predators.

Yes, I have dealt with lots and lots of cases similar to your pullet. Calcium citrate has worked in most cases. No guarantees, but I think it's worth trying. And no, most vets do not do this. But it works to help a hen get an egg out that's stuck in the oviduct.

It needs to be at least 550mg. More is better. It can work in an hour or it can take 24 hours. Rarely longer than 24 hours, but a second tablet will be necessary if it goes into a second day.

Be sure she's drinking water. Put a little sugar in it to elevate her glucose. This will help her not to run out of energy during her ordeal.

Ok. Thank you. Dipping her in warm water do anything?
Vet gave fluids, antibiotic, and metacam.
