St. Patty's Day Green Egg Hatchalong, Set 2/25

Woohoo! Picked up 5 "green eggers" yesterday. Lady just said they lay green eggs, I didnt ask her how dark. Look like they maybe olive eggers, most have feathered legs. I got a splash wheaton rooster, a splash and a blue wheaton hen, and a black and a blue hen. She had a swesome looking blue wheaton roo, but I liked the splash better.
I'll post a pic when I get home, hoping they lay olive eggs, hopefully they'll be laying in time for the set date

Awesome!! I set a bunch of Green AND Blue eggs today, covered by a BCMarans, wish me luck!!

Well, it was dark when I got home, and dark when I left this Am, so no pictures yet, but 2 of them laid yesterday. They arent olive, but a nice green color, almost avocodo-ish.

Avocado sounds like a lovely shade of green! My EE's eggs range from blue to mint to olive. I still have 3 more girls who aren't laying yet, even though they were hatched last April. I'm hoping they'll lay before the 25th, so I can set eggs from all the girls.

Yes I have a nice range too. Pale/Mint green from my Leghorn/EE, agua/green from EEs, and medium olive from Jersey Giant/EEs. I just dont have the dark olive yet. I have some olive eggers I hatched on new years.

Why won't the egg be green? I would think an EE Roo over a JG would make a mint colored egg…at least one could hope. Some of my eggs:

If you are wanting a mint green egg, cross your green egger with a blue egger until the offspring lay the desired egg tint. (Make sure it's a green egger, not an olive egger. Light green eggs will probably give you that lighter minty color.) Good Luck

I want to do this, I want to do this, my husband will kill me, I want to do this. I want to fill the bator with green eggs at some point this spring/summer it might as well be now. I have 3 EE with a leghorn rooster or a leghorn/barred rock rooster. I've already started preping them for the day I can incubate.

I have to have my incubator free to do a hatch for 4-h in April at the old folks home. This might work.

thanks! My Roos are all from brown layers, so I can't really go the mint green direction, but I'd welcome some Olive Eggers.

I'm totally in! If I can remember, that is. I've had my Ameraucana trio in a tractor for over a month now hoping to hatch their eggs, but I didn't think about planning it for St. Patty's day.
