staggered hatches

Hey monita, I see you got your post up. It was pretty easy for me to sit down with the calender and figure a schedule to set and hatch every ten days, I think it would be better to plan and schedule your hatches. Hopefully soon you can schedule a date for those Serama eggs. LOL I'll let you know when I have them.

Good luck.

i will probably want some as soon as you have them...lol. the way things are looking so far i will have a 1-2 week gap between hatches so that works out fairly well.

i have two table top incubators, i live in georgia and humidity is high, i put eggs in everyday or 2-3 days until i have first incubator with as many eggs as i like, incubator holds 42 but i usually put in no more than about 20-22. i add no water, i put dates on the big end of the eggs and on day 18 i start up the other incubator with some water in the bottom tray and move day 17 & 18 into this incubator and continue to adds eggs from the first incubator on day 17 &18 until they are all in 2nd incubator. i do remove hatched out chicks that are dry plus about 4 hours later to a brooder. i do not lose humidity doing it this way in my area because with the water and the humdity in the air, it stays up. on my last hatch i put in 20 eggs, one was not fertile, two died, hatched out 17, this is about as many little chicks as i like to care for at one time. my husband says i'm getting too many chickens and hates to see the incubator go on. he is really good about helping me when they hatch out and knows each little chick or chicken.
