Also, they place little importance on birthplace or citezenship.

Yes. Many great Mandalorians were foundlings. They're kinda like pirates. They keep to the code out of honor. However, Mandalorians KEEP to the code. To them it's not like guidelines.

And yes, pirates are rather bloody….
I remember Hondo Ohnaka pretty clearly, very unforgettable accent.

Hondo is one of my favorite characters honestly. I was thinking more like Jack Sparrow "bloody pirates", but I guess I missed slightly mixing them together
