Started a new MONSTER coop this weekend

Looks really nice - its about as big as my horse barn by the sounds of it - tons of space!

(Love the little nosy pig in the back ground!

I'm near the AL/TN line. It's pretty mild here for sure.

Out of curiosity, what about the design made you ask? The slope of the roof?

WOW that looks great I want a few more chickens I can't wait till I have my own farm in a few years I can't wait to have a bunch of hens right now I am limited to about 15 or 16 hens only.

Both the slope of the roof and the roofing material mainly. But I also noticed the trees there still have green leaves.

Those are some lucky chickens. Nice frame job. what are the wall materials going to be? Do you make your nesting area brighter than the roosting area?

So far, only the maples have really started to turn. The gum trees are thinking about it, but everything else is plenty green these days. It's starting to cool down now, though (only low 70s this week), so I think we'll see some fall colors pretty soon.

The walls will be Masonite, because it's cheap (like me!). The nesting area should actually be a little darker because there will be individual boxes for the girls to sit in. I'm going to do these a little different than previous ones, more like cubbyholes than completely enclosed areas with a cutout hole in the front.

I love Coopzilla! Are there going to be separate areas for different kinds of birds inside? Are you adding a storage space?

I can't wait to see more pics (and by the way, your birds are beautiful!).

The plan right now is for one big open area for all the chickens to live in. I have a smaller (5x7) coop on wheels that acts as a first home to chicks when they leave the brooder. Once they're bigger, they join everyone else in the main coop.

I'm planning to use the area above the next boxes as storage for feed and bales of shavings, like a cabinet with doors.
