Startena Feed - Smaller than 50lb. Bags?

I've never heard of too high of protein for the quail. Maybe chickens (mainly broilers), but not gamebirds. I have been trying to find the highest protein, unmedicated feed as possible to start my quail on, and I've been giving my layers 20% protein layena. I would never want to buy the little 5lb bags of feed, the budget would KILL me.

My point exactly.

For your needs you would want the higher percentage of protein. I have read for layers 16% protein is ideal.

I would rather pay $9 for 50LB and give some away than pay $5.95 for 5Lbs, although I have supplemented my layers protein with gamebird food when they were molting and when the one broke a piece off her beak.

Well, I called the feed mill to see if they had the Nutrena layer, and they're actually not stocking it any longer. That's why I ended up with Purina starter instead. I still paid the Nutrena price, which was nice, lol. Apparantly, the feed store does have the 20% layer from Nutrena. I just need to find a good unmedicated starter now.

RANCH HAND here in Brooksville carries it in 25lb bags. Be a little bit of a drive but it would save you all the hastles. And its no where near 20 bucks for 25# bag...

Almost forgot.... they also sell it in 5 lb bags there too.
