    I want everything [IMG] Well, at least I admit it, right? I want a pretty egg basket and need docile birds that will lay large eggs in prolific enough numbers to make themselves useful.

    I live in Mass and they will be in an insulated, unheated coop with no extra lighting. I'm thinking:

    1 black marans
    1 welsummer
    1 buff orp
    1 EE

    My main concern is that I won't get enough eggs come winter -- what's your experience esp with the dark eggers? I'm thinking the EE may take the winter off, hoping for 5 from the BO and at least 3/4 from the dark eggers, is this a reasonable guess?

    In the winter you might want to put a heat lamp inside the coop when it gets cold. In the winter you probly wont get that many eggs but if i were you i would get more.javascript:insert_text('[IMG]',%20'');
