Starting a flock at a nursing home - anyone done this?

This just gets better and better And just for clarification, I mean, a mixture of different types of chickens, but each type kind of interchangeable. Not all one color or kind of chicken. And it depends on whether it's a dementia care facility or not - I don't want to give anyone anxiety about their "favorite chicken" suddenly being gone. I was mostly thinking about people with memory problems - they often are easily confused and upset. Not your run of the mill geriatric in full command of his or her senses. They would understand.

Can you really tame game birds like that? This I have to see. And if for whatever reason it doesn't work out, the birds can come to my place. What's a dozen or so more birds?

I second the idea of working with FFA, 4-H or Boy Scouts/ Girl Scouts. You would have eager helpers to build a coop and run.

Yeah and 4H is big on giving back to the community- our club is always looking for volunteer ideas.
