I received 12 leghorn eggs from a friend (the rooster is a brown egger, though) and I'm going to toss a few of my girls' eggs in with them. I'm going to start them as soon as I get a thermometer/hygrometer. Last time, my chicks got fried around day 14 or so when the weather got super hot (no a/c). The weather has started cooling off around here, so, I'm going to give it another try. Anyone else starting a batch?

I will hatch along with you! I just finished up my first batch and am hopeing for better results. I believe I ran the humidity to high/and DH opened bator dring lockdown. I have 7 of my own polish and 6 BO/Speckled Sussex mixes from our backyard freerangers! Set them last night. The first timers are in for an adventure, and it is addicting.

I'll hatch with you!!! this is my first time incubating!!!

We just borrowed a Brinsea Mini Eco from a neighbor and placed 7 eggs in it. 6 of them are red star/danish brown leghorn crosses and one is a pure danish brown leghorn.

We had to fiddle with the temperature as it was off in its calibration.. but so far so good!

Should we do a picture parade as well?

I'm starting my FIRST EVER hatch tonight. NERVOUS. Need to lower the humidity by a percent or two. I'm off to research.... ack!
My first hatch was my best one so far! You'll do great. :) I forgot to mention that, even with the temp spike, I still got three little ones out of my last batch.

Good luck (to us all)! I vote a big, fat YES on the picture parade! I'm down with the flu bug, so, I'm waiting for DH to finish work so he can pick up my new thermometer/hygrometer. I'll post pix as soon as my 16 are set.

So my eggs are starting day 2 in the incubator. I turned them for the first time this morning. Temp is currently 99.4 F The instructions for the Brinsea Mini Eco has to turn the eggs 3 times a day.... is that true? that seems like alot.

Anyways.. I'll take a pic of the eggs in the incubator later today.

I set mine Wed am,,,,,,14 bought eggs, Bantam Salmon Faverolles and Blue partridge Bantams , filled bator with my SLW eggs

My brand new Brinsea, so far I LOVE it,,,,,,,it just stays at a perfect temp and humidity and so easy to use

Looks like I'm joining in! Went out today, found my beautiful splash rosecomb roo dead in the coop- from a spider bite it seems. He's one half of a breeding pair, and OF COURSE his hen is going through her moult, but I'll be setting the few eggs of hers I have and a few others to try and get a few babies out of him. Thank God I saved and bought an incubator a few months back instead of just spending it all on books!
