Starting a hatch the week of Oct 29th! Who's with me?

I received 32 Quail eggs yesterday evening and put the in the incubator this morning. Never hatched anything before so we will see how this goes

Well- I am at about day 6.5 and just candled. I ordered 8 wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucanas- received 9, 1 was broken, plus 2 lavenders as spares. It appears that not one of the wheatens is fertile. The 2 lavenders appear to maybe have decent veins. :(

Coops... sorry to hear your wheatens aren't fertile. Did you take them out of the bator? How are the other eggs doing now?

We had to delay our shipment because of Hurricane Sandy. As expected, she knocked our power out for several days and disrupted mail service all up and down the east coast. Thankfully, the shippers were great and just pushed us off to ship either today or tomorrow AM :) So the incubator is back up and running and we're ready to go, again. Hoping to have the eggs in the bator by Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

I did take them out. The other 2 look so lonely in there. Hopefully I don't end up with 1 single chick! Sent the breeder a message and they said they noted the same on some of theirs and are changing roos and will replace mine once they confirm fertility. Candled again last night- look like the 2 are developing ok. Fingers crossed it is 2 or none. Not sure I could find a friend chick if it were just one. Hope your eggs arrive safe!

I am also trying to order eggs from Garry Farm. I just went back and looked at your first post to remember what you were hatching. They have such nice birds and great reviews! Hoping to get some BCM in December. Always worry about what to do with the roos- guess I need to learn to butcher (kinda hard when you hatch them dang it!).

Well... the eggs have ARRIVED!!!!!! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Garry Farm so far. Their BCM eggs are just GORGEOUS! So dark and a nice size! The eggs were beautifully and safely packaged. Each egg was bubbled wrapped individually inside a small box, which was then placed inside a larger box and filled with more bubble wrap and empty egg cartons filling in the space. None of the eggs were cracked and they were all labelled as to which breed. The eggs are now sitting in the same room as the incubator is, just resting. I'll put them in the incubator tomorrow AM. Let the hatching BEGIN!!!

Oh, and I ordered 24 eggs and received 26

The Garry Farm really loves and cares about their chickens. They love to be updated on the hatch/babies and offers advice and help throughout. They've done everything possible to get me the eggs as carefully as possible. And communication throughout the ordering/shipping process was excellent. As I said earlier in the thread, I had to contact them the day before the original ship date and delay it a week because of Hurricane Sandy. They were more than happy to hold off shipping till the weather calmed down and we got power back :) I highly recommend them. Now let's just

USPS didn't scramble my eggs.

Those are pretty eggs! Are those lavender ameraucana eggs? They look a lot blue-er then mine. :-/ Very excited about the prospect of the Garry Farm eggs.Congratulations. I candled my two this morning and was watching the chicks move- so cool. 6 days.....

Yes, those are LA's. They pictured a little more blue than they actually are but are still gorgeous. I can't wait to candle my eggs. How cool that you saw movement! What is are you keeping your humidity and temp at?
