Starting to think I have 2 roosters

Well feed store guy is a bit graphic but right.
They can accidentally kill the female by breaking her neck or dog piling her if there are multiple boys.
Not a subject you ever think about when you get chickens...sex accidents. :p
Haha, you're good... I'm the same. I just ran to the feed store and the man and woman there told me that the boys absolutely can kill the girls. WTH. This is all so sad, I mean, I get that's nature, but man.. nature IS savage. I am going to try to find loving homes for these guys. I have to make sure they won't be food though.

Oh my gosh!! Someone chewed three more spikes off of her today! I went out to give them watermelon, and I find her inside the coop, were they roost at night. She’s never done that. I look in and see that she has more wounds! This is the same girl that had literally one little peck hole missing from the top of her beak, when she was younger. There is still a scab looking spot there, that I’m assuming will never be normal. Is there ANYYYYY chance that this is some kind of genetic disease or something? I don’t think there is, I just want to rule it out. I cannot believe that one of those boys ripped off three more spikes today! She was hiding! 1,000% heart breaking! When the sun goes down tonight I’ll have to grab the boys and put them in the mini coop. Pray that I can find a home for them that I can take them to tomorrow that will be loving homes where they can frolic and happily peck for years to come! But, on food not other chickens!

Nope, there isn't a spikes falling off syndrome.
I don't want to tell you this but it would be wrong not to.
Even when you rehome the boys the girls will still mangle each other's combs.
It is normally the first thing they go for in a disagreement. I have literally seen a freind of mine on here stitch a comb back on after a hen fight.
Girls are pretty darn vicious too.

I'm sorry! I just didn't want you to find out the hard way.
That pecking order stuff is serious.
I seriously have a bigger first aid box for the girls than for us.
It comes in waves, some days it is very peaceful and other days it is like a women's prison out there.
I don't even have remotely aggressive breeds either, most of them are Faverolles the Bob Ross's of the chicken world...not always happy little trees out there though.:)
