My understanding was that the nutrition information was the same or very close, but the taste is different.
I've been on a couple of tours of maple syrup farms, but it's been a few years now.

Is it correct in my thinking that the maple is drawn out of the maple tree?

Yes, usually sugar maples. They tap the trees for sap and cook it down for a long time until it is syrup consistency.

I have just come across an old thread with some excellent ideas on making homemade cleaning products which essential oils and chemical free soaps are used.

I make a spray which consists of a mix of white vinegar bicarbonate soda with a good mix of essential oils, so this thread caught my attention.

My mix is used for cleaning and as air freshener, I even spray my bed with it instead of using shop bought sprays. This mix helps keeping the nasty bugs at bay.
More on my mix at a later date
