Staying as Healthy as We Can Food and Pesticides

Hi Marie,

This is a great thread idea! I use grapefruit seed extract to wash my fruits and veggies. It’s 10 drops per gallon of water, I think but that’s what I do, and soak before washing and using. Doesn’t matter if I’m going to leave the skin on or not, everything I buy from the store gets this treatment. I soak three to five ish minutes for most things, but cucumbers and apples get a little more time because of all the wax. Scrub/rinse well.
What do you wash them with? I was taught just water so this is all new to me  is this how you wash lettuce or cilantro leaves?

Now you got me. :D it had to be you didn't it :tongue :hugs

Lettuce I'd use water and vinegar I'll have to think about the coriander/cilantro because even washing this loses the flavour

Thanks! @Marie2020 you are a very kind person. When I was young, I use think I could do something to help others and change things but now I feel like a dead leaf floating down a river.
That's not true not even slightly in your case. You made me smile my friend :hugs

As for me I'm just useless. I used to try and help everyone but was only shunned for it, yes a few listened and helped themselves but the majority just went too their room :(

Now I rarely speak out due too the past but just getting things going here may open the minds of a few at least and if only one person learn and share something it's a little win. :)

Off topic.

The wind is building up here.
Thank goodness I got my dog outside for his duties and just about got my cat back in before it got too bad.

My chickens had a little time out at 7.30am for a good hour and their feed and water has been topped up. They had fried eggs around 8am . So I'm happy they are all well fed

Right now we are all locked in. I don't know if the electricity will go off at some point and in turn my internet.

I was reading that our garlic powder was coming from China, and it was contaminated with heavy metals and all sorts of unhealthy crap. I made my own for years but last year I didn't. Thinking about growing my own again. :love
Would you please let us know how you managed to make garlic powder?

I don't have any machines to dehydrate but if a oven or dehumidifier would work I'm game :)
