You found yourself a great rooster! Not only is he handsome, but he is so gentle with the girls. I look forward to many more lovely pics and stories of your flock.

Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

He is a beautiful Roo. Where did you find him??
Stan the Man would be so proud, the ladies seem to really
take to him. He seems like he is a gentle giant.

Congrats on your new roo!!! I hope to hear more about Steele and his antics.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I found Steele on a Craigslist ad. He had been on there a few weeks and I emailed the owner who stated she purchased him and a few others as chicks from a man in Landrum SC. Most of the chicks had turned out to be roosters, and she kept this particular rooster because he was so gentle. She was looking for a non-crockpot future for him. I assured her he would live out a normal life so long as he remained non-aggressive.

When I went to see him, he stuck out like a sore thumb because he was the tallest bird in her flock. Several favorelle roosters pushed him around and he ignored the rather rotund dachshund supervising our visit. He continues to be a slow moving gentle giant. He does have a strange gait because his feet are so big. He kinda looks like a big-lick walking horse. He tried to mate a hen and he looked like a monster truck rolling over a Volkswagen!
