Must be nice just to have someone else build something for you! We've built every storage/coop building here. I want my 12 x 24 all-in-one coop to replace the original one and the old ladies' coops. BUT, I want a concrete foundation and at least a partial concrete block wall so it is a larger undertaking than we've previously done. We built a concrete block BBQ grill, then covered it with stone, but that's not the grand scale of the coop we want, of course.

Eva, what color are you painting it or are you staining it? How many chickens will it hold? How soon will you need another one built?

It starts so innocently, then becomes this.

Then you have to post that you have 61 chickens and no eggs.

Congratulations on the new coop Eva. It looks great!

Congrats Eva- I like the coop!

Well you don't HAVE to post it. But it does make me feel better about my 20 or so and no eggs.
I love all your pics and the video of the emus Mary.

We have bought the 5 dozen egg pack TWICE at Costco this month.

Mary, dark brown trim and classic warm stone color -- just as I am envisioning the house.
But then I came to think maybe not to paint so as to let the wood breath -- as is recommended for my Water bee hive...

Ok, I moved the game hen in with her 5 - 5-week old babies.
I am planning to move Eddy in asap his leg is healed he is putting weight on it, but it is still hot - so he is still healing. And then I'll get him a few hens of his own - he likes white and light colored.

I tried to build my own coop when my live-in help was still here - but he refused to build one and whatever he did build is falling apart... Thus coop was $600.00 delivered with all the extras: nipole waterer system, seed bin and lower level in closure.I wwould not have the time to design or build it.

And I really enjoy that I could clean out the junk and make shift ---- please laugh hard ---- Southern California - 2-umbrellas under a tarp make shift coop!!!! The birds actually liked sitting on an actual tree branch under the umbrellas....BUT I am greatly relieved that I have this beautiful house for my birds.

I have 2 more contraptions that I will replace with similar coops. I like a variety of birds and am trying to keep the roos peaceful

That is sad!

They should stat up again after the Winter Solstice without extra light.
