Because if you are extremely sensitive to gluten you can't even play with play-doh which is wheat based. I have a friend whose 8 year old daughter is so sensitive to gluten even if she doesn't eat at a church pot-luck she gets sick the next day just from touching things that people have touched after eating gluten (tables, chairs, counters, etc). Their whole family eats gluten free since several members have gluten intolerance, and she tells her hubby if he wants something gluten to eat it at work. But she's a fantastic cook so they eat well still!If you are not planning on eating it why is gluten free important? Does look like it would be fun to play with.

While I agree on the battery hens conditions, people would be more horrified if they saw the conditions their meat lives in. That is why I have my own chickens and purchase my meat from local farmers/friends.Interesting news story about California and Missouri.
