This purple egg is huge. I don't even know who laid it. Michael collected the eggs today and he thinks it came from coop #3. that's the Icelandics and general layers. I think maybe one of my brown egg laying olive eggers.

I have a Partridge Penedesenca that lay an egg that is rose colored when dry and dark brown when wet. It is white speckled because of the bloom.

Looks female to me but I can't look for saddle feathers from this angle.

Does look kind of girlie - when you look at them every day the changes are very small, so they seem to sneak up on you. But then around here they are all hens until they crow.

For sure looks like a pullet to me, stance, wattles, but as Mutt says, until they crow its a toss of the dice, and sometimes , rarely, even then. They do change sex.
