Tractors can be quite noisy! You may not hear a pin drop when running one.....

Oh, yeah, my nextdoor neighbor has about 4 acres of grass he cuts on Friday or Saturday. He is below me and sound travels upward. Sometimes hubby and I have to yell at each other to be heard when outside during this time, but I realize that tractor noise is part of country life. Oh, hey, how about that? A revelation! Country life is not completely quiet! Wish other folks would understand this when complaining about roosters crowing and farm equipment running.

You reminded me of growing up in the orchard(our house was several rows into the Prune Trees). Lots of farming noises in Day time; very quiet at night.

Life should be that way!

I love the nights-lots of stars you can actually see. Noise at night is usually critter noise, night birds, crickets, etc. Hope that never changes. If I get too infirm in my later years, just wheel me out onto my deck facing the mountains in the a.m. and wheel me back in after the stars come out at night, but don't take me away from here.

I was up in Newcastle today after a quick trip to the Burrito Shop in Auburn.
It appears I may have a tractor next week

For sure! Daytime noise doesn't bother me, but the neighbor dogs barking at all hours of the night does!

I do hear dogs at night but not too many in recent years, thankfully. What really, really bothers me is on a super cold night when I hear what is obviously a very small dog barking outside. Why can't the dog's owner hear that dog barking if its near its own property? I'd be mortified if I thought my dog was disturbing the neighbors all night long, but they don't give a flying fig, I guess.

yeah I know they are noisy but a small tractor is a must for me.
We have 2 acres that besides the house is fairly raw.
I need to clear land plow a small field , snow removal , lots of trenching for irrigation. , finish cutting a circle driveway.
all this would cost a lot to have someone do lol.

Jason, all Farms need a tractor! It would be silly to pay people to do those things for you. We had an ancient International tractor growing up and used it daily in the spring and even some in the winter.

One time we drove to a creek, about 4 miles from home to get a load of gravel. The pickup got stuck and we were not about to call a tow truck! I jogged home, hopped onto the tractor, drove it back to the creek and pulled the truck, loaded with gravel out!

Gotta love a good tractor......

Me too! But we have one that barks so much that he makes himself hoarse.

Ditto. We have a tractor as well. Comes in very handy for mowing all the weeds in spring. And the post hole digger is nice for fencing.
