Stella's Social Club

I am going to go out and talk to Diana about pulling Kelly's gym shorts down when she's here next week. Diana is very talented. I'll bet she could manage to get them down with her head between the fence rails.
No way! I'm gonna be extra careful! You'd better have a talk with those goats too!

I have a modem! We have cabbage and rhubarb! Yippee!
Nice! What are you going to do with the rhubarb? (looks like the same variety as mine - don't know what it is, DH's grandmother gave it to me) I have tons that I need to pick, but not sure what I want to do with it.

Our Cornish Cross are here 250 of them so we went to pick them up at the farm and ranch store and we got three aruacauna I think I spelled it write sadly one cornish cross didn't make it on the 8 minute ride home but 1 of 253 is not that . Tomorrow we are getting 65 laying hens but we aren't getting speckled sussex or silver laced wyandotte they had a bad hatch this year but they added more buff brahmas to our order so were still getting all just not speckled sussex and siler laced wyandottes.
Holy cow, 250?

Are you going to process all of them yourself?

My 23 went through 400 lbs of feed. That's 17.39 lbs/bird. That means you should go through 4,347.5 lbs of feed.

German Apple Cake. Loaded with butter! Yikes.

Oh that looks so yummy. Must resist. Love the partially melting ice cream in the shot and the texture of the cake. My critique - I know I don't count because I'm not a professional, but I don't like the spoon in the picture - I can see the reflection in it.

We stewed it down and will bag it up and freeze it so it's ready as a sauce for ice cream or to add to a strawberry pie or any number of things. Not the most appetizing looking thing, but oh, so good.

The bulk of the cabbage is going into a super crunchy, zingy cabbage relish, almost like a coleslaw in a jar that wekiva bird makes. She sent me a jar and I was in love. Here is the cabbage, peppers and onions with K salt sitting overnight. Tomorrow, will add the spices and cook and can it.

And, in addition to that, we have 3 quarts of shredded cabbage to freeze to use for coleslaw or whatever we want. And one head left to make fried cabbage for supper tonight. I got the date wrong. Rushing it, I guess.

Have to agree, I don't like the spoon in the picture either tho I can't take my eyes off the scoop of ice cream. Someone(ME) should be eating it rather than just letting it melt.

My Marans just hatched the last of the three eggs.

#2 is chocolate!

#3 just popped out of the shell and is too wet to tell. Here are all three of them. They sure fluff up faster under a broody on a hot day than they do in the incubator!

We have babies here today. My porcelain D'anver hen hatched 3, two are hers and one belongs to her mother, Mina.

These are about a week old now being raised by two broodies. The porcelains belong to Maura and the Mille belongs to her mother, Mina, but their "mothers" are Carly and Penny. It's a broody year.

Our layers are here so we now own 21 ducks 6 pigs and 320 chicks we have 249 cornish cross 2 died one came in a mixture of chicks 5 welsummers 7 buff orpingtons 7 buff brahmas lots of barred rocks and 1 arucauna 2 amauracauna all pullets except for one barred rock roo and cornish cross roo

I stew rhubarb in chunks and can it. Although it does look better if you have a red variety (and maybe put in a drop or two of food coloring).

And YUM x 2

Such sweet chickies.

Rhubarb freezes well, we cut it into 1" pieces and freeze in bags for later pie and jam use - usually 4 cups per bag, about the right amount for pie.

I can only imagine the volume of poo produced by 248 meaties
