Our minds go the same way. There's a gopher snake living in our hay shed. My first thought................."oh good, it will eat any rodents trying to live in there".

That is, once I saw it myself and was able to make sure it wasn't a rattler (we DO have them). A rattler will also eat the rodents, but I don't want to step into the barn for a flake of hay and find one.
