Stella's Social Club

I have an olive egger who is louder and more obnoxious than the worst rooster. as soon as my friend Fred is feeling better and comes down, she is heading to a new home!

holm, have to ask, are your barred rock chatty..loud chatty? I just sold one today because she was sooo loud! Long drawn out loud. I have close neighbors. She has to be worse than a roo. It was hard selling her, she is a beautiful Heritage girl. Just beautiful.
They are loud very loud!!

My hatchery BR was loud as heck when she was younger. She's 5 1/2 years old now, so she doesn't make a lot of noise now. My heritage BR from Kathy is quiet and one of my best broodies.

My hatchery BR is quiet. Her only problem is she goes into the buck area to lay her egg in their barn. Then won't go back to the chicken run on her own. When we do evening chores we have to put her back into the chicken run, if we do it earlier in the day she just goes back into the buck area. Normally a chicken causing extra work wouldn't be good for it's health here, but my DW likes this one.

Candled and 27 of the 29 eggs set a week and a half ago look good. Cream Legbars and legbar mixes. I have seven hens and my cream Legbar rooster going to new homes and the three extra young roosters heading for freezer camp soon, so there will be plenty of room.

I dragged my Brinsea cabinet incubator up from the basement today and cleaned the heck out of it. Then we hooked up the humidity pump, Michael recalibrated the incubator, we added a SpotCheck thermometer to compare with the Brinsea. I got nine Brabanter eggs in the mail yesterday. One looks scrambled but I kept it for now. I weighed each egg and circled the air cell in pencil. I calculated how much weight each egg should lose during the first 18 days and we set them. So far the temp has held perfectly. I ordered a $50.00 digital thermometer/hygrometer with a probe and it will be here tomorrow. Then we can compare humidity readings as well. It is staying in the middle of my family room until we get it working right!

I was shipped two boxes of Brabanter eggs at the same time but one got lost when it was routed through Orlando! It has been in the mail for six days! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. I can't even track it because both packages were assigned the same tracking number by ebay so they both show that they were delivered! The seller called me today and he said if they don't come tomorrow he'll re-ship. I ordered from him two times before but only hatched one or two chicks thanks to the Brinsea! Hopefully this time we can watch it like hawks, keep the humidity stable (no dry hatch this time!) , and hatch some chicks!

I am determined to figure this out because I want to be selling day old chicks next Spring.

I think I am also receiving my second shipments of Merlerault chicks tomorrow as well.

Oh, and I am having another dental emergency and have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Y'all know how terrified I am of dental stuff. I am hitting the Xanax hard.

Thanks guys. I am excited about the hatch and freaked about the dentist! I will be glad to get it over!
I am also nervous about my little Merlerault chicks arriving today? I always worry until I get them home safely. Maybe I need to see a psychiatrist. :/
