Temptation, argh.

In one of the batches of Cream Brabanter eggs I hatched, I got a weird one. It was the wrong color. I asked the seller and he said that occasionally a cream will have gold feathers that molt out, or not. You just have to wait and see. He said even if it molts out, don't use that bird for breeding. So I kept the pretty guy in with the Pavlovskayas because he hatched with them and they were friends.

So yesterday when Kelly made a snarky comment

about how many of my Pavs are boys, I thought I should hatch some more to get more pullets. I went to eBay to message the Pav seller and saw a listing for the Brabanter seller. The listing is for 6 Brabanter eggs, three creams and 3 GOLDS! OMG, he has gold Brabanters too! I sent him these pictures and he replied immediately that it is indeed a gold Brabanter and a beautiful one! He must have mixed up the eggs when he collected them and sent me creams with one gold.

So here he is, in with the Pavs.

Now I am tempted...badly. Do I decide to keep one of the coops I was selling and raise cream and gold Brabanters? Do I re-home this guy asap to avoid temptation and keep my promise to downsize permanently?

I was only going to keep three coops, the big one with Icelandics and dark egg layer hens, one with Pavs, and one with cream Brabanters. Now I am wondering if I should keep all five coops and leave Isi, Lukka, the old girls and the layers in the big coop, raise a new flock of Icelandics in the another and the gold Brabanters in the fifth one. I could do that and not actually increase the total number of birds because I have a lot of males to re-home.

The decision can wait and I don't want to stress Michael with it right now anyway. I should probably do what I promised to do.
I just got an email from ebay saying the auction for them is almost over.

Tough decision!

Mary get the eggs. We ALL know Michael has had loss of memory from his surgery, and NONE of US EVER HEARD YOU SAY you would cutting down coops/or birds. Heard is the catch word here. Sounds great to me.

Quiet birthday for Michael today. I went to the local joint and brought home a big burger for him and a chocolate mousse for later. Today is my son't birthday too. Michael and Mark are ten years apart! I had my son at 18 then robbed the cradle with Michael in it! My son and his family are celebrating with friends at a Sports Bar in Palm Springs watching the World Series game.
