Rinda, that was hysterical.

I had a heart-pounding rush of adrenaline once while on a winter canoe trip. We made camp along the river, and set the tents up on some snowmobile tracks (Did I mention that everyone else on this trip was male? And they did not think this was a bad idea?). We did put one of the kayaks down the trail a ways, apparently to act as a jump ramp in case an intoxicated snowmobiler came flying down the trail. I mean as a warning that some fools were sleeping on the snowmobile trail.

So in the middle of the night I wake from a dead (exhausted after a day of winter canoeing) sleep to the sound of a revved up snow machine coming at the speed of light.

I actually woke in a sitting position, with a flashlight in my hand already turned on, and my heart rate somewhere around heart attack. And sweating in the 13 degree air.

Then realized the sled was on the other side of the river.

When I tried to lie back down my body unwound in these weird jerks, as the muscle contractions let up one at time. And the guys thought this was funny.

My heart is pounding just reading your story...

I could not possibly spend a night in 13 degrees. I sleep in a micro fleece nighty on a double micro fleece blanket with a double micro fleece blanket on top of me and a night cap at 60 degrees. And I still feel barely cozy. And without that 4" fiber mattress pad I would stay awake all night.
That's what happened three nights ago when the pm temperatures dropped to 42. Brrrr, I love the heat..... today it's in the 80s and night temp high 50s.... feels good

Hahaha! Well I'm sure it's a lot more funny now than it was at a time! What a scare!

We had an unexpected arrival yesterday- puppies! I trusted the breeder when she told me our female would next cycle probably in November (we just got her in June and she had just cycled). So we were just letting them have the run of the goat yard with the goats.... Guess they got us beat by about 3 months! Whoops. Nice thing is I didn't worry about her a bit LOL! She did everything herself and presented me with 5 warm, dry, and adorable little balls of fur yesterday morning! I was SO glad I had just cleaned out the dog house and put in fresh bedding a few days ago!
