Meant to say, I hope you all will stay safe in those storms
I just hope my Christmas tree doesn't fall over!

it will be breezy soon
I am lucky I'm in the lighter color east of Placerville
Ron look out. Tie down those chickens
Thanks Jason!

I did some work on the weekend and will be setting up for rain tonight.

LOL I like a little color, too. Not a lot though. He is developing some color but the bright sunlight washes it out in the photo. He's still got a lot of time to grow, too. Hubby agreed I could run a second pen of Cream Legbars next year so I will have Rees line and my old line both. But really I have to sort out the egg color problem before I can do anything else.

Interesting note- since I switched boys I'm not hatching recessive whites anymore. So my new boys are clean for the white gene. I did save a white rooster out of my last batch that had whites. AFTER I fix the egg color problem I am going to breed each hen with him and eliminate recessive white from my flock. That will be an easy test- I will know at hatch (as long as I basket hatch) which hen is a recessive carrier.

Sounds like a lot of work Rinda, you have it all planned out so well! I have a recessive white Arkansas Blue pullet much to my consternation. You are going to have some really nice birds when you are done.

It was beautiful! I say was because it just fell over and ruined almost everything including spilling a couple gallons of water from the stand on the carpet.

I snapped this pic after I got a few ornaments on.

Oh too bad! I love a real tree - we are going to be away for Christmas or I would risk one, cats or not.

Very nice roosters Kelly.
Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't keep them - I don't have an extra coop to work with Icelandics too.

Oh jeeze Kelly. Too bad the mottled one is not crested. Hmm, makes me think about opening up coops 2 and 4 temporarily until next Spring when we can move them out. Maybe could get the best of them all going. Hmmm.
That would give you time to see their temperament. The mottled one had a few wisps that I thought he was going to have a very small crest. I'd have to catch him to look closer.

So I went out early this morning and bought myself a beautiful real Christmas tree about five and half feet tall. I went to Michael's Crafts and bought lights, ornaments and supplies to make homemade ornaments. I made picture frames with pics of all the grandkids, spool ornaments, rope bows, etc. Worked on it all day. Tonight I made homemade gingerbread cookies and tied them on the tree with twine.

Beautiful. So sorry it tipped over.

Well at least Tucker didn't do it - Mary cleanup the mess and then go stand in the corner. First burnt fish and now this. Sounds like you are channeling drumstick diva. Be afraid, be very afraid!

drumstick diva cannot pour fertilizer water from a gallon container, into a applicator bottle for plants ,without soaking jeans, top, socks, shoes and everything else in the way.
Too funny, Diva

Such a lot of work and then disaster - I'm so sorry! But it will be beautiful anyway - even Charlie Brown Christmas trees are beautiful!

I am going back to the Christmas tree lot this morning to see if they will exchange the little stand for a bigger one. They measured and tried it on the tree and assured me that it would work despite it being called a tabletop stand! I'll be nice but I think they should let me trade up!
