Moose is smart enough to take the high ground.

Wow Kathy Hope he moves on! And that the roster is ok

Found another dead hen in the coop this morning, and I wonder if she broke her neck - she was in good condition with food in her crop, less than a year old, everyone was active and fine last night. Found her looking as if she did a header into the wall- piled up with her head scrunched to one side, frozen stiff. She was one of the flightier birds, maybe something scared her during the night? :hu :(

Oh, thank you. I'm sure there will be plenty more.

Moose is king of the couch.

1muttsfan -I hope it was just a freak accident, and you don't have any more mysterious deaths.

How odd. I hope it is a freak occurrence.

Kathy - I hope your make makes it. Foxes are really tough predators.

I've had that happen myself, a hen I adored, the only one I kept out of Suede and my Buff Brahma hen. Her name was Glenda, spectacular broody, pretty black hen. She went in, two hours later, heard a ruckus, found her at the bottom of the bottom rung of the ladder roost dead, all other birds were on the roost, including Isaac, so she must have flown off and done what you suspect of your hen. She wasn't flighty, though, so it didn't make a lot of sense. Could be she choked on something she was trying to get down, I guess. Healthy hen, too. Bummer.

Kathy, how is that BR rooster???? OMGosh! I'm so glad he got up and ran off. I could see his head up in that video with the fox standing over him, but he looked pretty hurt.
