Stella's Social Club

I was sitting right by the opening in a t-shirt and shorts. They don't bother you. I had a couple fly near me and inspect me, but that is all. I'd really, really, really like some of your good pictures of my hive. I have an extra suit and I'll tip in honey.

Everything I do becomes popular AFTER I do it. Chickens weren't popular when I got them, and now they are. Same with bees. I made my first batch of soap Saturday, so I'm sure that will be popular next.

You are a trend setter!

The guy next door told me he would like to get bees, also goats and a pig. Not too worried since the village won't even allow chickens. I told him he should get an emu instead.

Maybe you should get a pig, Kelly

Mary, the bees are way too busy to bothet with you. A mild, sunny, calm day is best, the beers are less likely to be aggrivated.

I now understand the saying, "busy as a bee".

I don't open the hive in poor weather, unless I have to. It's not fun dealing with irritated bees. Mostly, my bees are quite calm. I've never even smoked them, though I should have when checking on them last fall. The population was so high, and they weren't happy I was in there.

A friend of ours raises our pigs for us.

Someone buying a buckling from us sells "pig shares". My wife and I are thinking of doing it. We would just take the amount off of what he owes for the buckling. So other than the processing it would be free, and we'd still end up with more cash than if we would have just sold the buckling as a wether.

Do it! We get a whole hog every year, and it's amazing. The bacon is to die for. Make sure the butcher he uses has a smoker though. The first one we got was butchered by a company that didn't, and he brined the ham and bacon. It was so awfully salty. We switched to our butcher and it's been fantastic ever since.

Well now I don't know if it IS you. After all I've had chickens since 2008 so maybe YOU copied ME.

But if you want the blame for all this, I don't mind.

Anyhow I think things become a trend and then die just like Bell Bottom pants. Fads ebb and flow. This is why I don't freak when things happen.

Long hair and the 60's free love drove people crazy. Now all the kids are bald and well free love will never die I guess. Of course tatts and piercings they too are here to stay. Can't undo those.

Course we might hear a lot of clinking when those nipple rings connect with those navel rings.

Those piercings won't be much fun when dancing in the rain either.

Oh and don't forget Rock and Roll.
