Stella's Social Club

We had a chicken mutiny today...........

I was minding her own business, checking on everyone after the extremely hot day today. Mary's birds needed some water, so I grabbed their waterer and went to fill it up. Upon opening the door to put the waterer inside the coop, Judge Judy made a break for it. Luckily, she is very old and slow, so it wasn't much trouble picking her up. I got her put in the coop, and grabbed the waterer to get it inside. I got inside with it, and luckily, I had the smarts to hold the door shut with one hand. The next thing I know, Stella launched herself at the door, dang near knocking it out of my hand. Close call, but no gypsy days for Stella on this day.
That is a great Stella story!

I am trying my best to get a secure fence around their coop so Kelly can evict them! Sadly fence guys are either really busy or flakes. Frustrating. I had a guy lined up to start Wednesday and when I called to confirm he told me it would now have to be Friday the following week or maybe Monday the week after that! I have someone scheduled for Tuesday but who knows of he'll show up!

Today I told my wife how we would have less bugs and scorpions if I just had a couple of hens. She didn't buy it... but she noticed I had been searching on Craig's list for small coops. I actually think I could build a decent, nice sized coop, but I'd have to put in a floor (with linoleum) because I like to sweep and mop at least twice a month. I can dream can't I. I'd get a couple of Aloha's, an Ameraucana and a Marans. Just four... that wouldn't be too many would it?

4 would be a good start!

4 would be perfect for you. You gotta work on sweet talkin' that wife!

you could borrow from a 3 Stoodges episode (many , many years ago.) they had a pest extermination company. They would visit a home and unload mice, moths, spiders etc. into the place. Then wait outside for frantic people to beg for their services.

What if some spiders( harmless ones) and bugs kept appearing in the house? Seems to me I would want to avoid poison and get chickens instead. Maybe even a house chicken for good measure.
