Really, I have had short term memory loss for several years, it seems to get progressively worse. My brother & sister, not so much. I have learned about "statin brain" which is a side affect and it may be from that. Lately, I also saw research that another of my meds can cause "Osteoporosis," . I've been doing all I can ,I have osteopenia, trying to keep it from getter worse.

Statins can also raise blood sugar, which is something I have had for years, probably back from when I started Lipitor. With meds you just trade one problem for another.

osteoenia and memory problems can be caused by too much calcium in the blood. Check your numbers and see what the blood calcium level is. Sent me a pm if it has been over 10 for some time.

Thanks Ron, I will find and go over my last few tests. I had them done again last month and STILL waiting for the copies from the lab ( 2 weeks ago). I signed all the forms to have them sent to me. If I take less calcium (supplements) per day, would that help at all? I do see my doctor tomorrow and will quiz her about it. She wants to work on my sleep problems (had all my life) and slight(HA) weight problems and overeating. She is picky.

Taking calcium pills does not help with the problem if it is an endrocine tumor causing your body to take calcium from your bones. Taking Vitamin D will make it worse too.

Get the numbers and we will see. The Surgeon we saw said that cases of parathyroid disease are very under diagnosed. The ones that get treatment are like the tip of the ice burg.

Sleep problems and depression that can cause over eating are more symptoms. Mental fog is another.

Nice pictures Rinda. Mine were all blurry and grainy. I will be so glad to unpack and find my lenses and camera gear! So sick of just the Sony and my Canon with a macro lens!

Kelly, as always It saddens me to hear about your grandmother. I am glad she has you to look after her though. Sad as it is, her train trips and cruises are a much nicer alternative than many. My Dad is losing it and he refuses to admit it, always accusing someone else for misunderstanding. Unfortunately there is not much we can do for them but love them and hope they still get some enjoyment from life.

Hi Kathy. The molt is upon us in full swing. I don't think I had this many feathers when I had close to 100 chickens! Here are my new babies in mess being made by the old girls. Jeeze, I need to get that sticker off the wall. It is in every pic I take! Olive Egger, Cream Legbar and Golden Cuckoo Marans. Sweet girls!

I finally found a door for my pantry! I love it, minus the cigarette ad. That is being replaced by a bread ad. It is a very old grocery store screen door. Exactly what I wanted and looked for for a very long time. Finally found it in the outdoor dumpy area of a local antique mall. I did a little repair on it and Michael hung it just as it is! Johnny and Eric are going to roll their eyes big time when they see this!

Cyn, love the house and how you have it set up. I love wrap around porches but they do rob you of valuable light. I will be able to eat dinner with a view of the twinkling city lights in the distance, once I get out of this motorhome! I am hoping for Friday!

Ditto, Cyn's house is lovely!

That is how it starts, forgetting where they have placed things, accusing people of stealing it, and a general loss of short term memory. It goes from them knowing they are losing it, to it's completely gone and they think they are still with it. I hope your father doesn't go this route, it's a tough way to go.

I'm sure you remember my mentioning of the "great wallet hunts" when my grandmother started with all of this. Dang, she was an excellent hider too, always in a different spot. Not easy when it takes you 2 hours to find a wallet in a 500 square foot apartment.

Car keys - before we really knew what was happening, my mom would lose the car keys - every 5 minutes - literally! As soon as we found them, handed them to her and turned around - gone again! I thought I was in the Twilight Zone! But the worst was when she somehow got herself all the way up to our summer home ( on an island in Maine!) from here in NY, and lost her handbag. She insisted someone came in the house and stole it. She did this 2 years in a row! Our cottage caretaker would give her some money, get her on a plane and we would meet her at the airport. When I went up to the house finally to get it ready to sell, there were the 2 handbags, lined up on the floor under some shelves in the pantry! My mother was very physically fit and was very hard to keep contained, even with caregivers with her. It was a nightmare and we finally found a very nice home for her near my sister in Philadelphia. But even there, she managed to get herself out and one time got shut inside a cemetery after the gates closed for the night. She climbed a 10 foot metal fence - with spikes on the top! to get out! I could write a book....
