Stella's Social Club

I typed a big long update only to lose it when my internet connection failed.

Anyway, we are getting ready for tomorrow night. I took this handholding my Sony tonight. WE got our new telescope today and we are really looking forward to tomorrow.

Found my update! I had started it on my iPad. Duh!

I am ok. Yesterday I had a terrible allergic reaction after exposure to cat dander. I spent the evening zonked out on Benedryl. I am still congested today but breathing better. A lot got done in the house today. Al the doors were painted but not hung because flooring is next Tuesday through Wednesday. Eric will be done with the cabinet refacing on Wednesday. They look so good! Our new front door and back door were installed and painted today. I love the way they look. I choose doors with one large pane of glass with miniblinds between the dual pane glass. With the blinds open you can through the house and oak to the oaks in the back when you come to the front door. The previously dark hallway is now flooded with light.

Johnny built in the water heater in the laundry room so it is no longer in view. It really changes the look in there. I am going to install cheap Home Depot cabinets and a counter so I can set up my sewing machines. I may even start sewing again!

The plywood went down for the granite install on Monday in the kitchen and the quartz in the bathrooms. Just getting the plywood down made a huge difference.

Yesterday we barbecued burgers and hot dogs for the crew and today carnitas with rice and beans. It was fun sitting down to eat with them and having fun. Those guys can really eat!

No one is working tomorrow so we will have a relaxing day. It is amazing how much running around I do when they are here without actually working on the house.

Good call on that full glass door, Mary. When they did ours after the fire, we had them replace one of those half-glass steel doors with a full glass door with mini-blinds and a single window with a double window, moved the half glass door to another wall to replace a full steel door (we have 3 exterior doors in that huge great room), then moved our dining area to right in front of those double windows. The view is to two mountain peaks to the west and now, we actually sit at the table to eat, which we never did when it was on the opposite side of the room. Our house is dark because of the wraparound porch, which is 8 ft on 3 sides and 4 ft on the last one. We really needed more light.

Where my dining table USED to be is now my hand quilting & crochet corner.

Today was a day of mixed emotions. It is my grandmother's 90th Birthday today. The whole family went to lunch with her, which was nice. I just wish she would be able to remember it.

She has been battling Parkinson's Disease and Dementia for several years now, and is in a memory care facility. She is a lost soul these days, with very few glimpses of her old self.
