Great find on the table! I'll have to go down there and have a look.

Ron - sorry about your rooster.

Dar - sorry about the chick. I hope your broody works out with the little EE's.

Molly - those chicks are adorable. Especially the blue ones. Gosh I love blue chickens.

Mike - thanks for the compliment. I want my cockerels to grow up and her to start laying so I can hatch some more barnevelders. I only have 3 girls, and 1 is a cull due to a wing issue. Of course the one that is a cull is laying.

(she'll be going with 2 wellie culls to a friends house to be layers)
that is good news though. It is always nice when a cull can still live a full chicken life

Thank you Kelly! One of these days I hope to have a place to keep Roosters. I got an email from the person that was going to let me keep roos at her place that said she was quitting chickens.

Oh well, maybe I will run into a bunch of money and get my own place to keep Roos.
Well, in the meantime - you have company with Mahonri. He wants roosters too, but cannot have them where he is at either. He got busted like you did.

Yes! Mahonri and I have had some similar experiences. I had to chuckle when he said he bought a couple of EEs to put under his Broody. Mine was not doing well with the chicks, so I put them back into the Brooder. She was upset but I ignored her and she stopped being broody the next day.

Last summer I bought 2 EEs to hang out with a chick that hatched by herself. I rehomed them to Redding and now those two chicks are one of the Summer pictures in the 2013 BYC Calendar. I will watch Mahonri's adventure and see if his 2 EEs wind up being super models too!

Just got back from Home Depot with the supplies to build my steps. The cinder blocks aren't cutting it! Be back with pics later!

Steps are done! I am not gonna' miss that cinder block! I'll add skirting to the front to hide the unsightly blocking job.

Both of my sizzles have splay leg today. I think it might be from cramming themselves under the Eco-Glow although they were only in there a couple of hours. We chickened out last night and moved them back to the incubator. I am going to go make some braces for them and see what happens. I think the third one died without pipping externally. I do not want to help for fear that it will have problems too. If it makes it out on it's own that is another story but I don't want to help.

I have a golden copper Marans that is almost out but nothing from any of the other eggs. So frustrating.

Wow, what are you, the energizer bunny?!?!

LOL Sometimes I envy the days when I could just say, "I think I'll start X project." And just go do it and it's done in an hour or two... Then I look at my four sweet little ones and I take it back. :) I'll take the 2-3 days-for-a-one-hour-project for my sweethearts anyday.

ETA: Sorry about your poor hatch, and your splayed chickies. Hope they heal up so you at least have them.
