Remember the old fainting couch in my living room? I just repurposed it into a display piece for our front window! It is just an upholstered piece of plywood on the seat, then I upholstered the back and added ball feet to raise it up a little more.

It will look good as a place to display small pieces.

Gee Rinda,  why didn't Mary think of having her goats  de-budded  - course we would have missed out on a lot of fun.

That has to be done when they are babies. It was too late to be done safely on our girls by the time we got them. It should have been done though, especially on fainters.

Nice!

I inspected my hives today. Both hives look great and population in both are increasing rapidly. I'm still feeding both, trying to get the population high before the blackberries bloom. A small casulty to the human who took a sting to her pinky finger. (now quite swollen)

Ouch - but better than on the face!!

Today is the last day for collection maple sap. It was such a looooong, cold/warm/cold spring, that my friend Denise and I collected quite a lot between the two of us. I am simmering the last of it down today, and after a few days sitting will put it up in jars and count the bounty.

You are to be commended - I know it's a lot of work for a small amount of syrup but oh so worth it!
The name of the horse farm where I work is "Sugar Maple Farm" - as you can imagine, lots of sugar maples but we don't harvest any of them - such a waste. There is a neighbor that encroaches on the farm property along the road and harvests the really big old trees. Nobody ever says anything to him - he's a grumpy old man - but I wish he would share some of his syrup!
