Stella's Social Club

Good day in the shop yesterday. Kelly popped in for a visit and we were able to take a short walk for some food while Michael manned the store. I was alone the rest of the day and sold the tall dresser with the decorative tole painting on the front! I have had that listed on my Facebook groups and Craigslist for months and kept reducing the price and it didn't sell. I am taking a class on profiting from repurposing and refinishing furniture and how to properly price it. She stresses that we cannot undervalue our pieces and provides a pricing chart. When I put it in the shop I raised the price by $135. A lady that admired it the first day we opened called yesterday to say she can't stop thinking about it. She came back yesterday and bought it for the full price!

Oh wow, this is great. How long has your store been opened now?

More pictures! :caf

I'm glad to be home from work this afternoon, picked up a bug over the weekend and have felt worse every day, now it is in my sinuses and wow what a headache. But I did get 10 chicks hatch :) - well 11 but one could not walk and had to be put down.

Two weeks today!

See how fast time goes by?

White cake is in the oven. It will become a lemon blueberry cake. Lemon curd and blueberry jam for the filling and a lemon cream cheese frosting.

Oh man, bet it's too late for photos now. Unless...there is still some left. That just sounds wonderful. I used to bake a lot! When most of the 12 kids were home..it was bake, bake, bake! Home made bread, cookies, homemade everything. Now, not so much. Just my DH and myself. We don't eat much baked goods. But oh...that lemon blueberry cake sounds great. I just may have to get my cook book out. I have some good ol recipes.

I'm not taking the cake with me now. It literally fell apart. I tried to frost it but it's pretty pathetic looking. My family can eat it, but I'll be taking something else to the potluck.

A trick is to freeze the cake and then frost it.

I bet the cake tastes great!

It said to butter the cake pans. Never again. I knew I should have used non stick spray.
I use parchment rounds for the bottom and then non stick spray. A tip was to not spray the sides though--It is supposed to make the cake top flat and easier to frost.
