Just tried the Mary Method of chick revival- sorry to say it didn't work this time. Black Ameraucana chick slept too far from the brooder light last night and was cold and stiffening when I picked it up. Still breathing though so I ran to get the hair dryer and worked on him for 45 minutes. He gave me hope a few times- a little chirp or opened his eyes or kicked his legs a little. But either he was too far gone or maybe something was wrong genetically. He hatched Monday and still had plenty of yolk in his abdomen.

But I still have a brooder full of other chicklets to play with and hold!
Oh, so sorry. At least you tried.

So sorry! I had a bunch die form a hatchery shipment last year. It is always sad.

hahaha - I have plenty of chick boxes. I'll get ya all fixed up.
Now, to get the show on the road and start hatching!

The bator is ready to go, and I have some eggs to put in from the past couple days. I have 2 darn black (chocolate gene) Orp boys that have been out chasing Delaware girls. I will have to wait to hatch Delawares for another week.

I still have to switch out a couple pens tomorrow. I decided to put my F1s in a pen and make some more F2s (from project Delaware). Those chicks can be: Barred; Black; Delaware; Split gold/silver males; Buff Columbian; Barred Buff Columbian & Silver Columbian. I love the variety they produce. I especially like the buff barred pullets (no males).

 • F1s
 • 1 pen with my F2s.
 • 2 pens of F3s.
 • Chocolates
 • White Rocks trio
 • Silver Laced Wyandottes
 • 2 New Hamps
 • 2 Barred Rocks
 • Icelandic pair
 • English Orps (no eggs)
 • Stukel pair of Barred Rocks (no eggs)
 • Marans & Wheaten Ameraucanas
 • Secret project pen
 • 2 pens of roosters
 • 1 empty coop

My first thought as well.........................."I want one of those"...............so I can fill it of course.
We have found recently that Campines were used to create Iowa Blues. There are several of my group looking for them. Do you offer eggs or chicks?

Ummm, I am in your group, LOL........I have IB also. Anyway, I have tons of golden campines. I collect a dozen eggs per day, so I can always do them, eggs or chicks. Saturday I had a judge say mine were the best he'd seen in years.

My silver campines are just starting to lay, so it will be awhile for them. They have been very slow starters. Actually, I need to break them out into a breeding pen. Currently there is a spare birchen IB roo (that I hatched from an egg from Jim) running with them!

I'm ready for winter to be over. My son just called to see if he could borrow the 4WD tonight. He's supposed to get 6" of snow and he won't be able to get home from work.

On the other hand, cold/gray/wet/windy ALWAYS sends me into the kitchen. A big pot of homemade chili simmering, in a couple of hours I'll start some dough for rolls (DH doesn't like cornbread) and I just took a flan out of the oven (love recipes that use up eggs).

Of course, in between I'm caulking the new baseboard in the den/reading room (not sure what to call it) so I can paint tomorrow. I mostly call it the room where I stare into my incubator windows, LOL

Yeah Kathy, just kidding too. You've been through tons and I'll bet you've already got lots of orders.

OMG, the rain just turned to big clumpy snowflakes. And it rarely snows this low (1400 ft), at least it almost never sticks!

There's a 12x15 ft room that opens off the living room with double doors, it opens out onto the back deck with french doors, built in desk, etc. I have my three incubators in there and two tubs of chicks that brood inside for a week or so before they get kicked to a brooder in the garage. So I guess I could call it the chicken room (although there are two stinking ducklings in there at the moment, Aflack & Duck Two, LOL).
