Mary - you need to tell Michael to pick up the trash blowing around in your video.

It was the plastic from the roll of chicken wire he lined the dog yard fence with. He always throws it on the ground. He did clean the dog yard, but just dropped everything over the fence. He and Cameron are supposed to clean things up a bit today.

I just checked my eggs and I have two pips!

Mary I liked the video of Tucker & Rodney too. Tucker is trying to show he's alpha by the mounting attempts and kicking dirt backwards - Rodney just chills and goes about his business.

It has been a rough weekend so far with the dogs and grandson. The barking is non-stop and Rodney is even snarling and biting at Cameron. We have Cameron confined to an upstairs bedroom now so we can all have a break. When Michael comes inside, I am going to go for a drive to get my head straight.

Praying that the transition period for them to get used to everything goes quickly and smoothly!

Did they tell you Rodney was used to children? He was probably teased/abused by them before he came to you.
Thanks Ron.

Diva, nobody mentioned an issue with him being around children. I did tell the foster that we have a 13 year old boy here every other weekend and she didn't indicate that would be a problem. I kind of thought he would get over it in a few hours and then we could get along peaceably. But nooooo, non-stop. Cameron is still holed up in the master bedroom and I feel bad about that. I got away for a few minutes to go to the store so my stress level is reduced a bit. Just have to make it through until 7 p.m. tomorrow. I have been reading online about how to train a dog to not bark, snarl and bite visitors. It won't be anything that we can do in a weekend, that is for sure.

well my reply to you just disappeared BYC style (Dar knows what that is like) so I will just cut to the chase. Personally I would let Cameron free range in the house - he isn't the problem and shouldn't be a prisoner). The offending dogs need to be sequestored so they don't think they "won" .

A professional trainer might make things go faster if you could find a really good one. Or maybe they come to the house and explain what you need to do. Animal Planet channel used to have dog training series - maybe they still do. Usually the dog is kept on leash for corrective sessions and not allowed to participate in the fun until he learns to keep control around strangers etc. Having a well socialized dog as an example sometimes helps in the process. Rodney would see another dog getting hugs and treats from a stranger or missing out on playing fetch and in time realize the stranger was worth accepting.

I can fully sympathize with you, when I was little ,our first dog barked and snarled at people coming over. We locked him in the bathroom and he'd jump into the bath tub. Of course he continued to bark constantly from there. Hours after people went home - our ears were still ringing from the noise. It was our only bathroom so company didn't stay long.
