Stella's Social Club

I am in Marquette, MI for the weekend. Low temp tonight forecast 7 degrees. Feet and feet of snow on the ground. But...

TSC has chicks and rose bushes for sale

Wal Mart has shorts and other summer gear

??? would they think we can use any of that stuff for another 2 months? Ugh. Just a big tease.

well you have to think positive, it's March now and despite nature at some point the weather WILL warm up ( could be months tho - Chicago area is iffy all the time here). Can hardly wait for spring with all it's mud and raw weather and rain, etc. Always something to look forward to????

well my reply to you just disappeared BYC style (Dar knows what that is like) so I will just cut to the chase. Personally I would let Cameron free range in the house - he isn't the problem and shouldn't be a prisoner). The offending dogs need to be sequestored so they don't think they "won" .

A professional trainer might make things go faster if you could find a really good one. Or maybe they come to the house and explain what you need to do. Animal Planet channel used to have dog training series - maybe they still do. Usually the dog is kept on leash for corrective sessions and not allowed to participate in the fun until he learns to keep control around strangers etc. Having a well socialized dog as an example sometimes helps in the process. Rodney would see another dog getting hugs and treats from a stranger or missing out on playing fetch and in time realize the stranger was worth accepting.

I can fully sympathize with you, when I was little ,our first dog barked and snarled at people coming over. We locked him in the bathroom and he'd jump into the bath tub. Of course he continued to bark constantly from there. Hours after people went home - our ears were still ringing from the noise. It was our only bathroom so company didn't stay long.
That was my thought, too. Crate the offender. When he is being good in the crate (quite) I would have Cameron give him a treat, you might do it yourself the first few times.. The dogs are new to you, I would work with them on basic obedience, (sit, down, wait, park it, loose leash walking, recall) they'll realize you are in charge. Right now they are just trying to figure it out. Believe me, I know it is frustrating right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel with lots of patience and training.

I haven't hatched since last Easter so when I do finally get out the bators, I'll have to learn all over again I suppose.

There's still time to join the Easter hatch, lots of help there.

Is it the weather, daylight hours, calendar date??? Had my OEGB and my Wyandotte go broody on the first. Separate laying areas....in fact my OE is penned with her mate only. Now my Wyandotte is collecting my general population eggs. I'm hoping that she stays broody till the Icee eggs from Deb arrives. I gave her some ceramic eggs and keep pulling all the ones she "collects". Will post some pics Monday of the hens stacked up in one corner of the nest box

I gave the OE her eggs back from this week.... Will see how she does.

I am excited to have my first hatch of the year, too! Ten more days for that. And, that broody I have setting.... hmmm, I wonder when she is due!
