2009 was the storm where we bought the generator. I had snow here at 1200 ft. DH and I was on a cruise through the Panama Canal. We got off the ship in So. CA and I had a phone call from DS to tell me what was going on. When we got off the plane in SF, I started calling to find a generator we could buy on our way home from the airport. The neighbors had taken their generator and brought it to our house to keep my frogs warm until we got home. We were standing in the dark at 11:00 in the freezing cold and snow, trying to read the setup instructions for a brand new generator so we could get it fired up.

The thigh high snow in Camino was around '96-97 or so.
I think about every 5 years we will probably get blasted pretty bad. Every 2 years probably close to 2 feet.
When I lived on FortJim rd (2400 feet . in a Valley) My elderly neighbor told me of the story of back in 1989 when they had to Snowshoe out do to close to 4 feet.
I know they say that the 09 storm was the worst for Placerville in a 24 hour period however it was nothing like the 89 storm I remember driving through Placerville and there was well over 2 feet in down town. Not to mention looking at pictures from town in the 1800's. Well more snow then or the pictures of Grass Valley as well from the same period where people where entering there house through 2nd floor windows.

I think the egg scramber thingy would be great for blowing eggs. It is always hard to get the yolk out without making a hole that is large. Assuming the thingy doesn't make a large hold itself

I agree about the capibilities of someone who can not crack an egg having access to hot stoves and sharp knives!
I found a thing called the Blas - fix for blowing out eggs. It looks cheap but amazingly works pretty good - even with the turkey eggs I've been using it on.

The egg cracker thingy in my house is called "the kids". They've got to learn sometime, right?

Deb, I posted this on the NorCal thread but I am posting it here too. Yes, Kelly I am double posting. Ban me.

NICE incubator Deb!
I keep trying and trying to post! My power and my satellite server keep going off and on.
Happy Spring!

today was a Daddy daughter day. So we planted some Bamboo.
Fargesia rufa Green Panda ( hardy to -30 ) gets 6 x 6
Yushania anceps ( hardy clumper that gets to 12 feet. Hardy to 0 )
Unkown Himalayan varigated running type

next week we have
my super rare Borinda Boliana ( Himalayan Blue ) tallest hardy clumper. Hardy to 0 can get to 45 feet
plus another green panda and another yushania anceps
and 3 black stripe timber. Thicker culm walls so it does not break under heavy wind or snow loads.

The smaller ones bend down in the snow

Kathy that is just beautiful! Get those little emus out there and videotape it!

Jeeze, too many Eggies victims! I returned mine the next day.

Cute kid jason. That bamboo will provide good shade! Bamboo scares me though. Been there, done that. I had the running invasive stuff.

I love it both. The key with invasive bamboo is the water . it will not grow where there is none. Grow it in a dry area plant it 8 feet apart and run a soaker hose. It will not extend far into the dry ground and will abort its young canes in dry soil and conditions.
Now if you plant it by a lawn or landscape then well.
