Stella's Social Club

my project is not so secret. I have to wait a bit though.
I plan on crossing the following

Crele penedesenca rooster x silver ameraucana hen
1st gen hens with pea comb back to crele rooster
2nd generation hens with pea comb back to crele rooster

crele penedesenca looking chicken ( roosters) with pea combs back to crele penedesenca looking hens with pea combs

:D
what do you get?
A olive egg laying Auto sexed Crele penedesenca looking bird

Sounds really interesting, but I don't understand the interest in auto sexing since we have Happy Chooks! :gig

Funny Mike. Sheesh, I'm doomed thanks to Mary and Kathy and their "rumors".

ohh never mind then. We live fairly close so I can just breed my white empordanesa and a white ameraucana send them all to her and she can send back the hens and keep the roosters for me

I guess I might as well start shipping them out.

Seriously???! I have been stalking your birds since you started your project, so if you ever do have some extras, please let me know. I love Delawares, but have been so disappointed in some of the birds I have seen recently - light weight, flighty, and not the egg layers I have had in the past.

I found Kaz on Craigslist - someone nearby had a female who regularly is visited by a neighbor's male. They had 10 pups in this litter, pure bred but not registered. They were asking $100 for them. I imagine I'll pay for it later because he is already showing stiffness when he gets up from sleeping. I expect the uncontroled breeding is perpatuating hip problems. :( He's super sweet though and I hope I have him long enough for him to train a replacement. It will be much easier than trying to do it myself again. My minis are 32, 33 and 35 inches so he is just aboout as tall as they are, but he's mostly hair so not nearly as heavy. He loves them and thinks they are his main responsibility. He's not that trustworthy around the poultry yet, he has a history of getting bored and "playing" with them. He especially liked the ducks so he spends his days in a kennel when I'm not there to intervene. I do think he's growing out of it though. He pretty much just ignors them unless they are being ornery.

Sad Morning, Glad Morning here. Our Midget White tom killed/crushed one of my Icelandic Hens, so he's going into his own pen to fatten up. No more springtime free ranging toms here. On the plus side, we had a doe kid this morning, one doeling

and 1 buckling. The second kid really surprised us because she was not very large, if it wasn't for the udder forming I would never have believed she was pregnant. We have one more kidding this year, she's due tomorrow.
