ENOUGH!

Fate. You believe in fate?

We were packing to leave for Iowa, as we were notified that Mike's mom had a heart attack and was transferred from our small town hospital to Omaha. Trisha (Mike's sister) then called again and said to wait. Not to leave yet, because Omaha hospital said it is not a heart attack.

So, we halt plans. Shortly thereafter, the phone rang. A stranger. She said, "I am calling to let you know that your daughter is okay. She was in an accident, and she needs you." Panic. She was on a country road (between our house and Walmart) heading to our house. She was driving too fast, turned around to check the baby (in carseat in back seat) who had a bottle, and lost control. The car went into a ditch, through a fence, rolled several times, and was totaled. Not much left to it, out in the middle of a field, I was told. By the looks of the car, they say, it is amazing anyone lived that was in it. I will get a picture when I see it.

Brittney always wears her seat belt. This time, however, she did not have it on. This really surprised me. She is lucky to be alive. She can not remember alot, except that she was, "getting into the back seat." (to get to the baby)..... She does not know details of that - getting in from where? From outside? From the front seat? Unknown. She said she just knew she had to get to her baby, and was praying and praying, "Save my baby; take my life. Save my baby; take my life, not his." She got him and took him out of his seat (one of the straps was pulled totally out of the carseat and dangling), and started running.... running towards the road, to get help.

Kayson, 2 yr old, was here at our house, and not in the accident. I stayed here with him. Mike went to the scene of the accident and picked up B and baby. He took them to the hospital. B had no broken bones, but had scratches and blood all over. (glass, I suppose). She had stitches put in the top of her left hand and knuckles. She is very sore, and I expect that to be worse in the coming few days. Her neck is very sore. Whiplashes are painful. Baby Cylis seems to be fine. He did have a small red area on his forehead. No bump, just red area. He gobbled down 6 ounces of formula a couple hours later, so it did not affect his appetite. Smiling and laughing. Sweet baby.

Unknown where her purse and cell phone are. No one has even looked for them. Not even important.

Brock is still in the hospital. Unknown what is going on there.
Mother-in-law hospitalized, condition critical, frail.
Brittney and baby - home and happy to be in pain, rather than dead.

oh boy what a day. I am so glad they are ok.

Fate.
Can't say I necessarily believe in it...but then again don't know if I would tempt it either.

Life truly is fleeting...that I truly believe...grab and hold on to every minute we are fortunate enough to call "now"
Glad your loved ones are safe and I hope you are continuing to convalesce despite all these stressors too.

Kathy, I am so glad that B and Cylis are okay. I can't think of anything more frightening than getting a call about your child being in an accident.
Keep us updated on your MIL....praying that "not a heart attack" is good news.

.......and yes, I have more pictures!

Here are a couple of the "twins" together. The one is larger and definitely is a cockerel. He has the reddening comb and beginnings of wattles. I thought for sure that they would be the same sex the first time I saw them. I've never seen any colored like them and since they were colored alike, I thought they must be the same sex....but now I'm thinking maybe not. They were hatched April 11-12.

Goodness! When it rains it pours!

Kathy, so glad your daughter and grandbaby are going to be OK. Praying your MIL won't have to suffer and can go Home. BTW out of the 14 Dellies only two with non yellow legs... they are yellowish with a tinge of green.

Prayers for the rest of you with problems.

Other Mary, those twins look like penguins! I think you have a pair.... and Bonham, is just GORGEOUS! WOW!

Boston just dropped off 6 two week old chicks. 4 BCMs and 2 Ameraucanas... I hope I can get some girls.
I put them with Milagro and her two Dellie companions.

Saturday, I'm sending 3 pairs of 2 month old chickens back with him. A pair of BLRWs, A pair of Sultans and a pair of Splash Cochins.... and maybe some blacks so he can make some blues.

Incubator should start popping with chicks in about 24 hours.

OMG Kathy, I take a nap and 'this' is what I read when I get up. Gee my heart would have stopped. Thrilled your daughter will be okay and Cylis probably thought it was just a 'joy' ride
