Highs here in the St. Ignace area are projected to continue in the 60's from now into July. Now that the blackflies, mosquitos and ticks have come out and the dandelions have overcome the lawn, we are apparently heading directly into fall. Quite honestly though I prefer it to 100+ degrees.

Mary are those logs along the bottoms of your fencelines?

Mary are those logs along the bottoms of your fencelines?

They are wattles. Straw tied with heavy mesh used to prevent soil erosion. WE have a problem with erosion, gophers, and chickens digging under the fences between the runs. We decided to give the wattles a try. They chicken love them! They run up and back down on them all day long, like escalators at the mall.
