60 turkeys? for real? Foster Farms doesn't have that many!

I had a problem that I had 6-7 turkey hens through the entire turkey breeding season. DH was convinced I should incubate every one of their eggs, MANY hatched!

Including I just brought about another 5 home from the State Fair hatchery display.

So far I only processed one very small (3 pound dressed male). It was tasty though.

<*perk*> Barbados sheep? My former landlady in West Sac had a few Barbados sheep - those are the ones that don't need to be sheered because they don't grow wool, but hair, and lose it themselves each year. They eat star thistle, I think.... I hope, anyway.

As for the emus, I am thinking I should raise from chicks....

In any case, I'd have to get fencing appropriate for them in an appropriate area of the property....

Still waiting for a response to my counter offer, much less actually having space for 'em.

That corner looks a lot better without that old dead tree, Mary.
How about a Wallaby ? I drove to Winnemucca Nevada to get my kids who where in Boise Idaho and the inlays met me half way.
On the way back I swaped crele penedesenca eggs with a fellow breeder. she also happens to breed Wallabies lol

Hello to all my sweet friends!

I think about you all, often.

Great news, Linda! Congratulations!

I have downsized alot, but I need to keep going.
I sold all of my Orps yesterday. Chocolates and LF Blacks and Blues. Gone...
Darn coyote took too many from my layers coop. That's what I get for free ranging.
I think I am down to around 75 all together. I have
  • my layers coop (around 40-45)
  • a pen with Icelandics, 2 Wheaten Ameraucanas, and Easter Eggers (maybe 16 total)
  • a Barred Rock pen (12)
  • a rooster pen
  • the pen of 3 month old chicks doesn't count, right? (about 25?) The ones I keep will be integrated into the other pens.... cuz I do not want 5 pens. Four pens is about 2 too many.

When I locked up tonight I had 8 hens on nests. They think they are broody, but they are not gonna get to have chicks. No.... No... No....

I still have Tony Turkey and Fred. They are just too funny together.

Heading up to Iowa for a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Mike's sister and husband on August 25th. We have sure been making lots of trips up there lately. All the grandkids have had their vacations here, so that's done.

Love and best wishes to ya all!
