Stella's Social Club

Here are some pics of the decorations. Very hard to photograph.

Front Parlor - no flash

With flash. You can see the square Grand Piano we bought circa 1890 needs a little refinishing but the piano tuner said it was a steal at $500! I am on the look-out for a piano bench from the same time frame so if anyone sees one let me know!

Not my Christmas decor but I picked up this antique humidor on eBay for $62.00. Dated on bottom from the same time as the house was built. The inside of the cabinet is all copper lined to protect the cigars. I don't condone tobacco use of any kind but I wanted to make the parlor fit the Victorian age and that is what men did. We are hopefully going to pick up a nice antique "man" style chair to go next to the humidor tomorrow. I can't wait to get this ugly faux brick out of here!

Rag dolls in my lady chair next to Kelly's whorehouse lamp. The dolls are part of my Christmas stuff. One has "Peace" embroidered on her apron and the other has "Love". I found the old needlepoint pillow at a consignment shop up the street. Love it!

This tree is an homage to "A Partridge in a Pear Tree" but it is a "Partridge in a Pine Tree".

Garland on the banister. Not done yet.

The biggest poinsettia I have ever seen in the foyer.

Foyer shelf. Iron deer from Tractor Supply!

Wreath on front door.

Outside front door.

Angel with moving wings that change color. Silly but I like it.

Big tree in the landing upstairs.

I'll post more when I do more!

My MIL bought the leg lamp for my DH a couple years ago.

Kathy - Congrats! I'm excited for you! You still need some fencing though.

Dar - your broody will be fine , deep breath. My DH is in San Diego right now on business. He comes home Sunday.

Mary - beautiful pictures. The piano doesn't look as big in the pictures as it does in person.

WOW Mary, just looking at the pics makes me tired.

I'm so tempted to go out and check on Ida, but I'll just pray. I know the chicks can't go anywhere because I blocked the front of the nest box off completely, so I'll just pray she doesn't smash them. Even though they hatched on Sunday and this was the first opportunity I had to go get them... because nurseshelly works A LOT (can't believe she drives that far and back on a daily basis) They were still making those newly hatched peeping noises and I think that's what turns a mother's instinct on in the dark!!!

We'll see!!!!

I moved the Ameraucana group from the west grow out to the big coop to make room for Ida and her chicks there. Now I just have to try to get back to sleep and wake early enough to get out there with the mash, waterer etc..

Ooh, that would look good in the parlor. I am currently looking for something that kids could have used. I thought about a small table and two chairs with an old checkerboard on it. Looking for the right piece is fun.

If my wife would let me buy the property on the street to the south of us, I could have emus.

It will never happen, but I can dream.

oh, and I CAN'T SLEEP... but I'm going to try now.
