Well all the chicks are alive and well and she is mothering them wonderfully.

I put them in the pet carrier and moved them to the west grow out pen in the DARK this morning.

Then after I'd put a waterer at the front with some chick mash, I shined the light in and she had scooted all of the chicks under her and then because she could see, she saw one of her stray golf balls and tenderly tucked it under too!

IT WORKED!!! Ida's a mommy!!!

Well, it was still dark when I came to work so I'm done with my last patient of the morning at 11 so I'm going to go do a bit of shopping, go home take the camera out; reach in and get that golf ball and see if I can get the chicks out to make sure they know where the water is.... I'll also open the door on the pet carrier in case she wants to come out and let go of some broody poop!

Mary, is that ancient piano tuned and can be played??? Amazing! I thought I loved your last house, but I REALLY LOVE the one you are in now. WONDERFUL!

Mahonri make sure you put marbles in the waterer so the babies don't fall in.

IDA! You go girl!

Yes Mahonri the piano is tuned and in great working order. It was hard to find a tuner who works on square grands but we finally did. We weren't sure it could be tuned becuase it had just been stored for many many years. The tuner was very impressed with the piano. As soon as I get over the hassle of selling the other house I am going to see about getting the woodrefinished. One step at a time.

Here is my Ida with her five chicks. There are two browns... one with a white breast, a small light chipmunk and two blondies... I imagine those came from Cloud's eggs. I think the browns came from Rose's eggs and perhaps the light chipmunk came from Ida or Whitney. The only two that I am certain that the roo was frisky with were Cloud and Whitney, and of course, Icelandics are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.
