Well, they are painted a sparkly, brownish color - it changes in the light. It'll be pink through the summer, so maybe then you won't think they are dirty.

I got 3 yards of soil delivered today for my 2 new garden boxes. (3ft by 12 ft each) Thanks to the darn gophers last year that pulled all my tomatoes down - 4 foot tall tomato plants were here one day, pulled down and gone the next. So I have a wee bit of shoveling/wheelbarrow work to do today. I'm putting Asparagus in one bed, so I have to get that planted, as I already bought the asparagus starts. The other one will stay empty until summer planting - which for my location is mid May.

Lots of work now, but in 3 years I'll have loads of asparagus.

Ya know, I just love chewing gum. HOWEVER ....... 85% of the major brands still contain aspartame and sucralose. I was reading this article, and I found a couple brands of gum I am gonna try out... Glee Gum and Pur Gum. I checked my organic co-op list and they do carry the Glee brand. So, I have it ordered.

Just read that article.

Did you ever read about how aspartame originally got accepted? Here is one article.

I chew Glee Gum a lot. It is very good but can be a bit sticky on my teeth and it has sugar. I chew 4 pieces at a time and this seems to take that effect away somehow.

I also like Peelu Gum that I get from Vitacost.com- I think it uses xylitol?? I like the spearmint the best. That is great stuff for keeping the tartar away from my teeth, and is sugar-free.

Mary - I was finally able to capture the color from my Cream Legbar pullet's eggs. The actual color is a bit deeper blue, but this is the best I could do. Her first couple eggs were small and now she's laying big girl sized eggs.

Wow what a beautiful color! I wouldn't even want to crack them for breakfast!

Where are you showing this weekend Deb? Will be going to the Pensacola show in 2 weeks. The black rocks have been kicking into high gear....hope taking them doesn't mess up the routine too much. Might have to bring the roo in so he doesn't get frost bite on his comb

before the show.

I'm going to a Serama tabletop show in Manteca. There's supposed to be 200+ of them there tomorrow. My other choice was an all-breed show in Bakersfield, but that was a 5 hour drive and two nights in a hotel. This is a one day show and only 3 hrs RT. Seemed like a much better option, even though three people wanted to buy birds at the other show. Although one managed anyway, a friend of his was driving through and just stopped to pick up Marans chicks.

I just spent a few hours bathing ten birds. But I can tell you bathing a one pound serama is nothing like man-handling a ten pound LF cock. Ten of those wears me OUT!
