My submissions this week and critiques.
The light and the colors look really nice here... very italian! Watch your focus though... here, the focus is on a ravioli that is mostly hidden. It would be nice to see it on the front ravioli, since it is in the hero spot in the image.
I like the soft but dramatic light in this shot. Composition looks good, but do watch the corners and try to avoid little "triangles" being formed by the edge of plates, like in the lower right corner here. They pull your eye from the subject.
Well, this is a first! I don't think we've ever had a chick in a food photo before.
It's really cute. Love the expression. Food wise, most of the eggs are out of focus, so they get pretty lost, particularly since there is a pretty busy background as well. The shot at this angle, might have popped a bit more on an all white background and shot at a higher f-stop so more was in focus.
I don't think he knew I was kidding.
My reply to this critique:
I was just kidding with this shot. Have you ever tried to pose a chick while changing backgrounds and f-stops?
The background is the actual 120 year old brick wall in my basement. I got lots of nice pictures of the eggs in focus before I added the chick. My blog post even got a shout-out at King Arthur Flour!

Me building a light box, like that's gonna happen. Ah well.
