When I went out to lock up tonight, I thought the roost in the layers coop looked awfully empty.....




I think I was in the "Broody Coop," instead of the "Layers Coop!"

Ok, that is an awesome fart egg.  Looks like a sculpture made by a chicken!

Has anyone here noticed chicks you grow out inside tend to be bigger then  ones under broodies? It is getting noticible in my silkies.   Not so much in the Marans. I give everyone 20% feed but the outside chicks run around a LOT...  Do they catch up later or just always stay smaller?

I find the chicks that are raised by a broodie grow faster and stronger....

DW and I put on a church Bar B Q for about 250 people this evening.  We were busy all day and DW will get her Mother's Day See's candy.... like she gets for Christmas, Valentines Day, Birthday, get out of the dog house/er chicken coop days etc.....

Chocolate can fix almost everything just say'in !

70th Anniversary Party is over. It was a huge success. I am so exhausted I am resting all day today, hopefully.

Do you think I might have waited a little longer than I should to lockdown the call duck eggs? Now I have to wipe out the dang cabinet!

When the calendar says "lockdown bottom shelf" on Friday, it dang well means it! At least they didn't have to fall through all three shelves to hit bottom. But Happy Mother's Day to me! There's a third one zipping, a few more call eggs and a few chicken eggs waiting to join them.

I managed to catch Mama and Daddy Duck overseeing the ducklings' swim in the pond yesterday.

(I've been leaving the kiddie pools dry because there used to be five ducklings, but one got into the "turtle" pool and couldn't get out.... when I was not around to rescue it. No steps out for the babies..... but the new pond has an excellent ramp.)

Today is the real day we are without power all day. I believe it this time because the electrician is actually here! Michael is hooking up the generator so we may have internet off and on alternating with the fridge!
