I guess B had another seizure after arriving in Kansas City. I did not realize this. I do now notice memory loss. I have talked to her on the phone and she can not even remember talking to Cody (Kayson's dad) at all. Other things she can not remember too. Also, she keeps saying she needs to talk to Felisha to see how the boys are. Over and over she says this. She is not taking care of the boys. She is the girl that was in the car accident with her. She kept calling the footrest of the chair - "the kickstand." other stuff too....

I am concerned.

So sorry about all that Kathy :( Perhaps it's the medication she is on? Traumatic experiences can cause symptoms like that, even if minor. When my mom was hit by a bicycle and broke her ankle badly, she could barely remember what happened or anything that went on at the hospital. The body just focuses on fixing what is wrong and a person needs rest to get better. It isn't an indication there will be permanent damage.

Understandably so....but it is still so early after the accident...
keep the faith...
can't imagine how hard this must be for your family...

Maybe this will give ya a wee smile...??

Kathy, that is typical behavior for traumatic brain injury but NOT necessarily permanently disabling. My best friend was hit by a bicyclist some years ago, suffered a broken shoulder and clavicle, and has no memory of the accident. In the hospital, she kept asking what happened, as frequently as two minutes after she got the answers; by the the time she was released, the person in the bed next to her was answering her questions due to her husband's repetitions. She was a medical transcriptionist and returned to work perfectly able to function for several years with a highly productive performance rate. She's also a MacGuyver in the kitchen, soaks up information like a champ and has one of the quickest senses of humor I know. She is a BYCer (which is how we met). To be honest, she does demonstrate an altered sense of ..... Well, she reacts to any negative event with an excessive response - Worst Case Scenario-ism. I tease her all the time: "Oh, NO! It is TUESDAY, the WORST day of the week! You cannot possibly survive [whatever, like a flat tire or the car won't start, or the dog threw up, or her son takes two days to answer a text message]!". After she tells me to expletive myself, she will start to laugh, sometimes through the tears she worked herself into shedding. I can get her to short-circuit her emotional short-circuit sometimes by just saying, "Oh my gawd, it is Tuesday, isn't it?!?!" (Or, alternately, take the "whatever" to a ridiculously extreme degree right away, as soon as she demonstrates agitation rather than normal concern, like "That must mean the dog will die, all your chickens will die, your husband will catch it and die, and you'll have to bury them all in the garden. I'll help you with that - you know I'm there for you.") As others have said, it is still so early after the accident. Confusion and memory scrambling are normal after such a horrific incident. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Kathy, have they discovered she hit her head in the accident? I can't imagine she didn't, no seatbelt and a rollover accident and all.

My dad hit his head at work when I was about 16 and he had a seizure. For the rest of his life he had to take Dilantin, but had no ill effects beyond that.

Hoping the Oklahoma peeps are staying safe up there. Just got word that my ex's sister and kids are safe...it hit 10 blocks from them. Keeping positive thoughts for those that live up there and keeping fingers crossed on KiM's family fast recovery.
