What did you have for breakfast? I made a jalapeno cheddar omelet with peppers from my garden.

The egg yolk color has improved since I started giving them more greens. I wish they didn't completely destroy the runs. I would love for them to get their own greens right at home. Plus, I wouldn't have to pay for it!

for this I would drive the crele up there

I have a dilemma Jason. Let me explain.

I went out to the coops this afternoon to collect eggs. I saw this:

Oh, cr@ap. Lukka is broody again! Good grief I thought.

Isi got nervous that I was bothering her.

He came in to run interference.

She clamped down tighter on her eggs.

I tried to lift her up to count and got my hand pecked bloody.

She is one mean broody.

So I gave up and turned around to leave. Then I saw this:

Lukka and her Swedish Flower hen baby strolling in the run.

Lukka is not broody, her daughter is broody! The only way I can tell them apart is that the look-a-like has a bigger crest!

So I am tempted to pull the eggs out of the incubator and give them to Lukka's daughter to hatch and raise. There are 11 in there, 8 Cream Legbars and 3 Isbars. Too many for a first time broody?

Kelly I sent her an email with the candling results. You know it will be days before I hear back, if ever! This has been the most frustrating breed of chicken for me. Due to no fault of the breed itself, of course!
I hear ya. You know my luck with the Barnevelders.

I had a blackberry scone and a hard boiled egg.

As for your newest broody. I say give her the Isbar eggs and leave the others in your bator. If she does well with them, then you can add the others right before hatch. If she doesn't do well with them, you don't lose all of them. Or you can just let her hatch Icelandics.

Oh they look quite content those babies and Mom! Whew! for you. I like the idea of giving my girl the Isbars. I'll do that tonight.

Those grapes look yummy. I have never made grape jelly. I should try it. Michael loves it with peanut butter sandwiches.

Oh for goodness sakes. I was standing at my kitchen window when I sudddenly saw smoke, lots of it. I ran into my office to get a better look. It was coming from our outdoor burn area. We hadn't had a fire there in months!

OMG. Should I call Cal-Fire?

I stood there wondering what the heck was going on until the smoke cleared.

Baby turkeys dust bathing in the ash. I am so glad I didn't call Cal-Fire!

Video coming up after dinner!

Mary, your stressful situations are even making me stressed- I think both of us need to sit down and take some slow, DEEP, breaths - then slowly exhale , about a million times should do it.
