Stella's Social Club

My broody project girl was sitting on duds so I gave her the baby that hatched today. She readily accepted it so hopefully all goes well during the night. She is chicken-wired in place until tomorrow.

Chooks come teach my hens to hatch invisible chicks!

Much cheaper to feed..
My SG Dorking and one of the Amelias(Crele Pene X Cream Legbar) pullets have gone Broody. Mimi the Dorking has gone Broody 3 times this year now.....

That is a BIZARRE coincidence, Kelly! I was jolted out of bed at about that same time (4:15 EST) by the wildest snarling and barking and growling and yipping. Apparently, a coyote pack was in a killing spree on my property, right behind the bantam coop. Scared me to death-I thought something had gotten into the coop and was slaughtering my birds. Then, when we were outside at 9 a.m., Tom heard it on the next property over. We are working on removing brush that grew up while we were involved in stuff to do with the house fire and renovation. Have to get it knocked back from the coops as I also have seen a huge rat. Didn't see any today; maybe the coyotes had a rat snack this morning. That explains why it's been quite some time since I've seen any stray cats around here, the ones I used to depend on to keep my mouse population in check. May have to get my own barn cat.

Well, how did it go?

It went great. Thanks for asking. I went out to take pictures for you and when I took them off my camera I noticed the bay wasn't opening it's eyes. I just went back outside and checked. The baby can open it's eyes, it just doesn't. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
