Strange Cyn. I sure hate that feeling.

Mary - I'm sure you already are, but give them vitamins.

Invisible chicks were apparently not good enough. Now the pyscho Orp is following my production red around co-mothering the 4 week old EE's that she rejected.

Emily is visiting family in Texas. She sent this pic from San Antonio. I would love to make one! Just bought a new glue gun.

There is something to be said for adoption.

My gentle little Silky broody actually pecked me yesterday when I was trying to extract a baby from under her - a first!

We have babies again, or rather, my BW Ameraucana x EE hen, Maretta, has babies again for the second time in less than four months. Her oldest are 13 weeks old now.

One is Maretta's own chick and two belong to my red hen, Rita, who is a BLRW x BBS Ameraucana, singled combed and a brown egg layer. All three are sired by my Delaware rooster, Isaac.

Here is Maretta, in maternal bliss yet again.

I hope one of Rita's turns out to be red like she is. Her last and only other chick turned out like this; here is Valentino at his home in KY, special order from a sweet elderly lady who had his older brother and adored him, but lost him at a year old to a raccoon attack:

This is redheaded Rita Hayworth, product of an illicit affair -a BLRW rooster infiltrated a BBS Ameraucana flock. That is Maretta in the background. They were broody at the same time last time.
